“Country Grid” Notecard $3.50 Sold separately, or as one in a set of 6 in Series 1, Nature’s Beauty While on one of her countryside treks Lin came upon a view of a farmhouse in the distance obscured through limbs and fog. It was unexpected and she kept wanting the fog to clear so she could see more clearly. The muted colors were inviting and the trees made a very irregular sort of grid to look through. She wanted to capture the simplicity of it all. “Country Grid” was done after moving to North Carolina as she pondered what she was going to do with the rest of her life. Add to cart
“Summer Retreat” Notecard $3.50 Sold separately, or as one in a set of 6 in Series 1, Nature’s Beauty In 1992, while expecting her daughter, Lin went on vacation and painted this picture. The peaceful home-like setting with the sun shining through lush greenery really spoke to her. Lin’s husband, Terry, loves flowers and always surrounds their home with outdoor beauty. This moment represents a peaceful expectation of a “Summer Retreat” and the comfort of home. Add to cart
“Violets for Virginia” Notecard $3.50 Sold separately, or as one in a set of 6 in Series 1, Nature’s Beauty Lin’s Aunt Virginia always made Lin feel special and Virginia loved the color “violet” – not really a saturated purple but a softer shade of lavender. Lin says “she will always remember Aunt Virginia’s bedroom being that color, and all her decor was carefully coordinated like nothing I had ever seen. I thought that was so cool”. For her birthday, Lin painted these violets and Aunt Virginia hung them in her special room. Lin and her Aunt Virginia also shared a love for the painter Monet and even attended an exhibit together when a show was on tour. After Aunt Virginia passed away, her granddaughter gave the picture back to Lin. It hangs where she can see it daily. Lin hopes you enjoy these “Violets for Virginia”. Add to cart
“Blue Ocean” Notecard $3.50 Sold separately, or as one in a set of 6 in Series 1, Nature’s Beauty Going to the beach is one of LIn’s favorite activities. The colors of the sky and water, the power of the ocean, the serenity of a calm sea, the force of waves in a storm, and the peacefulness of the tides are all a great mystery. This painting was done for her daughter, Meredith, October of 2013. Lin and Meredith both enjoy long walks on the beach and have had many wonderful mother/daughter conversations in the presence of the “Blue Ocean”. Having walked the beach many times with her father, Lin knew Meredith would remember those walks just as Lin herself remembered walking with her beloved father. There is always peace and purpose by the “Blue Ocean”. Add to cart
“Avery’s Leaves” Notecard $3.50 Sold separately, or as one in a set of 6 in Series 1, Nature’s Beauty Through the years, Lin has always loved to watch the leaves change. Fall is the most beautiful time of year, and she find the colors exciting and worth noticing and celebrating. When her kids were young, she would remind them to “Look at the Leaves” as they traveled back and forth in their daily activities. She would often stop the car to be sure everyone noticed the leaves (which was embarrassing to her kids if their friends were around). Lin says, “Even to this day, I am amazed at the colors of nature, especially in the Fall”. In 2013, she was grieving her father’s death and felt that she had to “paint her way out of it”. That October she painted something for everyone in her family that reminded her of them. This was an exercise that resulted in being able to finally do a portrait of her father for her mother. The painting here is called Avery’s Leaves because Lin’s son, Avery, shares her love for leaves and fall colors. Add to cart
“Still Water” Notecard $3.50 Sold separately, or as one in a set of 6 in Series 1, Nature’s Beauty When Lin was in college, she took her camera with her everywhere to capture subject matter in nature. As an art student, she often trampled through the woods to find streams and rivers with her portfolio and painting supplies in hand. She would paint or draw on site. This watercolor was painted from a photo she took along the East River between Oakvale and Kelleysville, West Virginia. There was a railroad track running around a bend on the side of a mountain above where this photo was taken. While she was taking pictures, a train came, and she actually had to hang onto a tree to wait for it to go by. It struck Lin how loud it was, and how close to danger she was while right below her the water was still and calm. Add to cart
