“Edge of the Water” Notecard

$3.50
Sold separately, or as one in a set of 8 in Series 2, Nature’s Delight

It was a warm summer day at the beach. Lin found a moment to wander out to find a shady spot under the pier. The ocean breeze was fantastic, and the pier’s weathered boards normally looked gray, but this particular day the wood seemed so colorful. As usual, Lin had her watercolors with her on the beach and wanted to capture a glimpse of a peaceful relaxing moment at the “Edge of the Water”.

Peace!

“Flaming Sky” Notecard

$3.50
Sold separately, or as one in a set of 8 in Series 2, Nature’s Delight

This watercolor was done when Lin was just 13. She learned much about art and painting from her grandmother. This painting was done after spending some time with her. She had just learned the salt technique and enjoyed experimenting, creating the texture in the lower portion of the painting.

This piece was submitted by her art teacher to a statewide art show where Lin won first place. It is a reminder that even at an early age, painting was Lin’s passion.

It’s fun to remember when God instilled those ideas.

Pay attention to what kids do. It could be a glimpse of their purpose in life.

Discover your purpose.

“Purple Cow” Notecard

$3.50
Sold separately, or as one in a set of 8 in Series 2, Nature’s Delight

While studying impressionism in college, Lin loved the way the European masters handled color. Her instructor cautioned never to use black in a painting, but instead to create shadows with color. In this oil painting, the pastoral setting came alive with color, even in the shade. It was fun to use purple tones as well as, dark green and blue to contrast with the sunshine behind the trees.

The “Purple Cow” became an experience of using juicy color to brightening up the darkness.

Let color brighten your day!

“Fall Countryside” Notecard

$3.50
Sold separately, or as one in a set of 8 in Series 2, Nature’s Delight

It’s odd how the brightest natural colors happen in the fall right before the leaves come down. Lin has a fascination with fall leaves and yearned to record their beauty before they drop. Fall in the mountains of West Virginia provided a glimpse of beauty, and this view was a gift from God on this very normal day.

Notice the beauty in nature.

“Palm Delight” Notecard

$3.50
Sold separately, or as one in a set of 8 in Series 2, Nature’s Delight

This Majestic Palm seemed to be dancing in the breeze without a care in the world. The colors were delightful and refreshing, and you could almost watch it grow instantly. This just called out “paint me”!

Enjoy the breeze.

“Purple Reflections” Notecard

$3.50
Sold separately, or as one in a set of 8 in Series 2, Nature’s Delight

This painting called “Purple Reflections” was painted while sitting on the beach near Apache Pier. The activity of the water and the reflections cast by the complex grid of pier supports were extremely interesting. Painting while on the beach with watercolors is difficult because paint dries quickly, and the wind blows sand everywhere. You have to work fast. It is very satisfying to capture a moment like this trying to beat the heat, and hold the wind off for a few minutes. It was just plain fun!

$3.50
Sold separately, or as one in a set of 8 in Series 2, Nature’s Delight

This piece, called “Porch Geraniums” was painted on a Saturday morning in early June of 2019, on Lin’s front porch. The beautiful renovated porch was a Mother’s Day gift years ago from her husband, Terry, and her children Meredith and Avery.

This special space has become Lin’s favorite place to gather with friends, to enjoy early morning coffee and just to relax while being surrounded by color. Geraniums just happen to be Terry’s favorite flower.

This painting represents a special day Lin spent with her great niece, Allison. One Saturday, 8 year old Allison visited Lin and brought along her new watercolors. She wanted to learn how to paint. Lin had these flowers in her kitchen and thought they would make great subject matter. Allison watched as Lin painted, and they talked about all sorts of things while Allison was busy creating her own art.
