While sitting on my porch, I noticed a fern that seemingly grew rapidly before my eyes. Even though it was planted in a hanging pot, the stalks grew long and strong into the air, reaching for all the light it could get. During 2020, many of us were stuck in one place but yearned to reach out to others, yearned for light so much that we grew in unexpected ways like this fern. With pent up energy, we burst forth despite the pottery’s limit.
Grow heartily where you are planted.
Sometimes it is hard to find a place to rest, to meditate, or to feel the warm sunshine. During stressful times we strive to find a safe place to think or be content and calm for a moment.
The goal of “Summer Meadow” was to create a feeling of security with warm colors of the meadow contrasted by the cool refreshing leaves.

Lakes are peaceful. If you have grown up around a lake, it is a wonderful, nostalgic feeling of fun with the family. “Lakeside Afternoon” represents the cherished summers of a very special family and acts as a reminder to make traditions and create unforgettable memories as often as possible. The figures in the lower left are of a mother and son. Experience the vastness and beauty of a lakeside afternoon with loved ones.

Hydrangeas represent deep emotion and a desire to understand. This painting is in memory of a dear friend who passed away unexpectedly, and hydrangeas were her favorite flower.
Even though I did not know Carmell very long, she was an inspiration to me. She impacted all who knew her, and she could boldly and lovingly light up a room just like hydrangeas do. Love one another, and make every moment count.
